Ali Liebert is a talented and versatile actress who has become one of Canada’s brightest stars.
Ali has also been extremely busy in the feature world. Most recently, she appeared in Palme D’Or winner Laurent Cantet’sFoxfire, which premiered at TIFF 2012. In the coming months, she will be seen in Ben Ratner’s Down River and Robert Townsend’s In the Hive with the late Michael Clarke Duncan, Vivica A. Fox and Loretta Devine.
She is also an active producer with her newly formed company,Sociable Films. Ali, actor and writer Nicholas Carella and director Michelle Ouellet, founded the company in 2011, unified by similar creative goals and a desire to “make movies sociably.” Their productions to date have attracted some of Vancouver’s acting elite to participate in the collaborative filmmaking process. Their first feature, in which Ali also stars, is called Afterparty. Sociable.
Raised on Vancouver Island, Ali always had a passion for the stage and attended the Canadian College of Performing Arts’ Musical Theatre Program, graduating with honours. Shortly after, she moved to Vancouver to pursue acting and gained representation almost immediately. Since then, Ali has added over 50 credits to her name, including TV guest appearances on Hellcats (CW), Human Target(FOX), Fringe (FOX), Dead Like Me (Showtime), The L Word (Showtime) and Psych (USA) . She has recurred on Harpers Island(CBS), Intelligence (CBC),Killer Instinct (FOX) and Kyle XY (ABC Family). Her favourite film credits include Sook-Yin Lee’s Year of the Carnivore, Mike Clattenburg’s Afghan Luke, Blaine Thurier’s A Gun to the Head and Carl Bessai’s Sisters and Brothers.
Deeply respected in her industry, Ali was a presenter and a jury member for the 2010 Gemini Awards. She has been profiled on eTalk, Urban Rush, ET Canada (twice), and has graced the pages of numerous publications including Elle Canada, Hello! Canada, Reel West (cover), TV Week, Playback Magazine, National Post, Globe and Mail, The Vancouver Sun, The Vancouver Province, After Ellen, Vancouver Magazine and many others. In 2011, she was voted as #1 Hottest Sharp Woman in Sharp Magazine. In March this year, she was a celebrity guest and model at Toronto’s HeartTruth Fashion Show.
Ali splits her time between Vancouver, Toronto and Los Angeles. Her favourite pastimes include last minute getaways (current fav: NYC), belting obnoxiously along to musical theatre soundtracks (current fav: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), dabbling in photography (current fav: the Brooklyn Bridge) and going to the movies (everything) with her pals. She is currently working on perfecting her Liza Minnelli impression.
